@LJHughes97 Exactly the same way you would teach a dog to do that :) People WAY underrate the cat, they can do more than you think.

Before training cats, I had more experience with dogs. Now that I have experience with both, I learned that cats learn just as fast if not faster. All the cats that I trained knew instantly what I wanted them to do,however, that didn't mean they were ready to perform. You sometimes have to earn their love and trust first. The litters I grew up with had more problem solving skills than the dogs I had (border collie, aussie, doberman, golden, lab etc...) they just needed a better incentive.
